Full-Day Pike Hunt
The best way to do it—more time to find active fish and stay on the bite window.
- 7–8 hours
- Big-fly streamer focus
- Ideal for intermediate+ anglers and adventurous beginners
If you like aggressive eats, stripping big streamers, and watching fish hunt in shallow water—pike trips are the move. Perfect for adventurous anglers, groups, and anyone who wants a break from technical trout fishing.
Northern pike are apex predators. We target them with big flies, strong leaders, and deliberate retrieves—often in shallow bays, weed lines, and ambush water where eats can be explosive.
We build pike days around conditions: water temps, wind, weed growth, and where fish are hunting. Most trips focus on stillwater or slow-moving backwaters where pike stage and feed.
The best way to do it—more time to find active fish and stay on the bite window.
A shorter option when you want action without committing a full day.
Mix a pike day into a Montana trout itinerary for a true “best of both worlds” trip.
No. We’ll coach you into a repeatable cast and retrieve. Pike fishing rewards good boat positioning and persistence. If you can cast 40–50 feet comfortably, you’ll have a great day.
Prime windows depend on water temps and weed growth. We’ll recommend dates based on conditions and your goals.
Yes—with guidance. We’ll emphasize safe casting lanes, hook handling, and fish handling. Pike have teeth, but we manage it.
Tell us your ideal window, group size, and whether you want a half-day, full-day, or a pike + trout combo itinerary. We’ll respond with availability and a recommended plan based on conditions.
Prefer it simple? Send us: dates, anglers, experience level, and whether you’re bringing your own 8–10 wt gear.

I often have folks ask what the gratuity should be after a day of fly fishing. Here’s a quick bit about tipping your guide:
Your guide likely worked hard to make your trip a success. (If they didn’t, please let me know.) A standard tip is 15–20 percent of the total trip cost. If the guide went above and beyond the scope of your expectations, please tip accordingly.
Fishing guides live hand to mouth and their expenses are quite extensive—insurance, flies, food, equipment maintenance, vehicle wear and tear, to name a few. They will always appreciate whatever you provide!
Nope. We love teaching. We’ll tailor the day—casting, reading water, and fish handling—to your pace.
Safety first. If conditions aren’t right, we’ll switch rivers or reschedule. Spring runoff is common—we adapt.
Absolutely. Tell us when you book and we’ll plan lunches accordingly.
