Do I need previous fly fishing experience?
Nope. We love teaching beginners and sharpening skills for seasoned anglers. We tailor instruction—casting, reading water, and fish handling—to your pace.
What’s included with my guided trip?
Professional guide, boat (for floats), rods, leaders/tippet, terminal tackle, and flies. Full-days include riverside lunch; half-days include snacks and drinks.
What should I bring?
Fishing license, hat, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, refillable water bottle, and weather-appropriate layers/rain jacket. Waders are optional seasonally.
What if weather or flows are challenging?
Safety first. We match the river to conditions and may adjust start times or stretches. If it’s truly unfishable, we’ll work with you to reschedule.
Can you accommodate dietary needs?
Absolutely. Tell us when you book—vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergies can be accommodated with notice.
Is the fishing catch-and-release?
Yes. We use barbless hooks and careful handling so these wild fish thrive for the next angler.
Do I need a Montana fishing license?
Yes, every angler needs a current MT license. You can purchase online or locally; we’ll send a link with your confirmation.
What’s the typical day length?
Full-day floats run ~7–8 hours door-to-door. Half-day walk-wades run ~4 hours and are great for mornings or evenings.
Can you handle groups or corporate trips?
Yes—tell us headcount and goals. We’ll coordinate multiple guides, boats, and lunches to fit your plan.
How far in advance should I book?
Spring and summer fill fast. If you have fixed dates, reach out early; otherwise we can often find great windows on short notice.
Quick Tips
- Early and late light often mean better dry-fly windows in midsummer.
- Bring layers—mountain weather changes quickly.
- Hydrate and protect from sun; polarized lenses help you see eats.
